Eating out with kids in Paris doesn’t have to mean surviving on frites and croissants (although there’s nothing wrong with enjoying plenty of those during your trip!)
While you might not feel ready to march the whole family into one of Paris’s more serious, white-tablecloth restaurants, there’s a whole world of spots where families can eat well and enjoy an authentic Parisian dining experience.
Here are my top picks of places to eat with kids in Paris, from crêperies and bakeries to lively traditional restaurants where a little noise won’t be frowned upon.

Kid-friendly Crêperies in Paris
Crêpes are pretty much a guaranteed win with kids, and luckily, Paris has tons of places you can find them. There are take-away stands in busier areas, and brasseries (café-style restaurants that serve food all day) often have dessert crêpes, but for a better quality meal, go to a sit-down crêperie.
This is where you can feast on galettes, savory crepes made with buckwheat flour (which are gluten-free) and can be filled with your choice of toppings from ham and cheese to more creative options. Be sure to save room for a sweet crêpe topped with sugar, chocolate, salted butter caramel, or other delights. The beauty of crêperies for families is that everyone gets to choose their own, so there’s no negotiating over what to order.
The most traditional crêperies in Paris are in the Montparnasse area, like the Crêperie de Joselin (WA), but if you don’t want to trek all that way, look for the closest location of Breizh Café. This is a fantastic crêperie, with several locations around the city, that serves classic and inventive crêpes with organic, top-notch ingredients. I also like the Comptoir Breizh in Montmartre and Brutus, an original crêperie with a couple of locations.

Bakeries around Paris that are child-friendly
For an easy breakfast, lunch, or snack on the go, Parisian bakeries are definitely one of the best places to eat with kids in Paris. Pick up a baguette sandwich, quiche, croissant, or something sweet, and you’re ready to keep exploring without committing the whole family to a time-consuming sit-down meal.
You’ll find amazing boulangeries all over the city (like the ones in my guide to the best bakeries in Paris), but in a pinch, just put “La Parisienne” in your maps app. Winner of the best baguette in Paris contest, it’s got branches dotted around the city, and so there could be one nearby.
Have a picnic with the kids in Paris
A Paris picnic is another great family option, especially if the weather is cooperating. Grab some bread, cheese, fruit, pastries, and other picnic supplies at one of the city’s markets (or even a supermarket), then find a pretty park or garden and settle in. I’ve included some handy spots to shop for picnic supplies and beautiful places to enjoy them along the route of our Paris Itinerary.
Picnics are also a good way to give everyone a little more freedom to choose exactly what they want to eat, and possibly even the chance for your kids to try something new they might be too afraid to order in a restaurant, like more pungent cheese or a country-style paté.

Kid-friendly bouillons in Paris
Of the different types of restaurants in the city, a bouillon is another perfect place to eat with kids in Paris. These are big, buzzing restaurants that serve classic French dishes at super reasonable prices. The ambiance is very French and lively, so you won’t have to worry about your kids making too much noise.
There are about eight in Paris (not all are under the same management), but my favorite pick for kids is Bouillon Chartier (WA). It’s fast-paced and has old-school waiters rushing around with overflowing trays, which kinda feels like you’ve stepped into the movie Ratatouille. I often take my friends who are visiting with kids here, and we always have a blast.

If you’re looking for somewhere a little more special than a bakery or crêperie, there’s a whole variety of Parisian restaurants that are suitable for families. Here’s a selection of kid-friendly restaurants, where there are options that will keep both you and your children happy.

Café Caillou, 7th Arrondissement
Found a short walk from the Eiffel Tower but far enough away from the tourist traps, Café Caillou (WA) is a fabulous traditional Parisian café that works particularly well for families.
There’s a pretty good kids’ menu as well as a great array of other dishes, from vegetarian moussaka to duck breast with orange sauce and country-style roasted chicken, some of which can be enjoyed in a set price lunch formule.
It’s the perfect choice if you’re sightseeing around the Eiffel Tower and want somewhere that feels truly Parisian.

Brasserie Rosie Lou, 2nd Arrondissement
With its quirky, colorful décor and classic menu, Rosie Lou (WA) is the sort of place kids are definitely going to love even before the food arrives. It’s found on the Grands Boulevards, so it could be a good choice for lunch between the Louvre and Montmartre or the Marais, or for dinner if you’re staying somewhere central.
The menu has plenty of familiar French favorites, including croque-monsieur sandwiches and French onion soup, alongside other brasserie classics such as steak frites and truffle macaroni.

Café Louise, 1st Arrondissement
You’ll definitely be hungry after visiting the Louvre, so head straight to Café Louise (WA), found right around the corner from the museum. It’s got a small dining room, but also a good-sized terrace, both of which have the perfect Parisian café atmosphere, without making you worry about whether the kids are being too wiggly.
There are croque-monsieur sandwiches, salads, hearty meat dishes, but also a few different pasta dishes, including my favorite, ravioles du Royan, small cheese ravioli that are baked in the oven with cheese sauce and more cheese. It’s so tasty and filling that you’ll be all fueled up and ready for more sightseeing.

Brasserie Dubillot, 2nd Arrondissement
Located north of the Les Halles and Montorgeuil district, Brasserie Dubillot (WA) is another fun choice, which has a colorful, playful décor that should appeal to kids. The menu focuses on French brasserie classics that satisfy young and old alike, and which are made with great quality ingredients.
It’s part of the same group as the well-known Brasserie des Prés and Brasserie Bellanger, so if you like the vibe, you could try one of those too. They’re pretty popular, so I suggest reserving on their website a few weeks in advance so you won’t have to wait in line.

Le Sancerre, 3rd Arrondissement
Located in the North Marais, Le Sancerre (WA) is a friendly neighborhood-style café with a super-value kids menu, making it an easy option when you’re exploring this fantastic, less touristy part of Paris.
I often stop in here when I’m in the area and think it’s relaxed enough for families, but still feels like you’re getting a proper Parisian meal. In addition to the €10 kids menu, there’s a wide range of dishes from spelt risotto with seasonal veggies and crispy goat cheese salads to honey-glazed pork chops, burgers, and specials of the day.

Les Fondues de la Raclette, 9th, 11th and 14th Arrondissements
If you’re visiting Paris when the temps are a bit crisper, this restaurant, specializing in hearty mountain cuisine, will be a crowd-pleaser. At Les Fondus de la Raclette (WA), you can choose between gooey fondue or raclette, a dish that involves heating up slices of cheese and then pouring it over potatoes or meat. How can you go wrong with either?
Dipping your little piece of bread into the fondue pot or heating up the raclette cheese is a lot of fun in itself, but what you’re eating is also really delicious. It’s got three locations, in the Opera district, one in the 11th, and one near Montparnasse, so hopefully one will be near your accommodation or your sightseeing adventures.

Chez Gladines, Various Arrondissements
If you’re on a bit of a budget, track down a location of Chez Gladines. It’s casual, inexpensive, and very French, but with a Basque Country twist. It has several locations around Paris, including a convenient location (WA) on the edge of the Latin Quarter, close to Notre Dame.
The food is hearty and cheerful, with plenty of chicken, potatoes, cheese, and other comforting dishes that tend to be a hit with younger diners. The kids, and your wallet, will thank you.

L’Estel, 8th Arrondissement
It’s really hard to find a good, affordable kid-friendly restaurant around the Champs-Elysées, which is why this spot is a real lifesaver. Relaxed and unfussy, L’Estel (WA) has a cozy neighborhood-bistro feel and a menu that makes it easy to find something for everyone.
It’s got a kid’s menu and a wide selection of dishes like French onion soup, roasted camembert, boeuf bourguignon, burgers, and sausage with mashed potatoes, all sorts of dishes that suit kids who might not be ready for the more adventurous French specialties.
